Best of Sri Lanka – 10 Days’ offers the essence of the 15 day package but in a shorter period of time. The package covers the hill country with tea plantation visit, the Ella train ride and the culture of Sri Lanka through a visit to the iconic temple of tooth.
You will not be deprived of the golden beaches of down south. Go on a whale watching tour where you can expect to see a range of whales including blue whales, sperm whales etc. Enjoy a jeep safari to Yala national park.

Day 1: Negombo
Arrive at the Bandaranaike International Airport where you will be welcomed by our tour leader. You will be transferred to your hotel in Negombo. Based on your time of arrival, you can enjoy a walk in the streets of Negombo or chill in the beach. Take a bicycle tour if you wish (you can rent your bicycle).
Day 2: Dambulla
Your personal vehicle will take you to Dambulla in the morning. Reach Dambulla, which is at 130 KM from Negombo, by 10 AM Approx. where you will check in to your hotel. Drive to the cave temples where there are over 80 documented caves of which, 5 containing statues and paintings depicting the ancient Sri Lanka. After lunch, head towards Sigiriya. This UNESCO world heritage site can be known as the pinnacle of ancient infrastructure. From ponds, still working to date, to traces of his kingdom, Sigiriya takes you back in time. You can also wander in the gardens at the basement if you are too tired to climb. This tour will be fully guided.
Day 3: Kandy
Drive after breakfast to depart to Kandy. Reach Kandy by 10 AM approx. in a 2 hour ride. Check in to your hotel. Visit the Peradeniya botanical garden on the way. Peradeniya Botanical garden is an exceptionally organised garden with over 4000 species of plants. Orchid house, bamboo trees, plant house, palm avenues spread over 145 acres and the suspension bridge which is fun to cross, decorates the place. Rest for a while in your hotel. After lunch, head to Dalada Maligawa, the temple of tooth. Indulge in a rich cultural show where you'll see most of the aspects of Kandyan culture including the colourful Kandyan dancing. Reach your hotel where you will stay for the night.
Day 4: Nuwara Eliya
Leave Kandy to Nuwara Eliya in the morning in a 3 hour drive. We will stop at scenic photo stops for you to take some pictures! Visit the 'Damro Labukellie tea centre and tea garden' on your way. You will be taken on a guided tea factory tour where you will experience professional tea tasting with a visit to a tea plantation. Check in to your Hotel in Nuwara Eliya afterwards. Drive to the top of Sri Lanka's tallest mountain, Pidurutalagala. Enjoy 'pol rotti' a variety of coconut rotti with spicy chutney at the top of the mountain. The summit opens up to breathtaking views.
Day 5: Nuwara Eliya/Ella
Wake up early in the morning for a drive to Hortain Plains where you will go on a short trek in search of the World's End cliff. On the way, expect to see a variety of fauna and flora and occasionally some Sambar deer if you are lucky. Hortain Plains is a UNESCO world heritage site. After the trek, take the train to Ella. As in all of the other transfers, we will accompany you through this as well. The Nanu Oya (N'Eliya) to Ella stretch is one of the best train rides in the world. You can either rest, or take a walk in this small town until we take you to the next place on our plans, Little Adam's peak. Take some pictures of the sunset if you wish. Stay in Ella this day.
Day 6: Ella/Yala
In the morning, jaunt along the walls of the famed nine arch bridge. Following breakfast, drive to Yala in a 3 hour ride approx. En route, stop at the historic Rawana falls where you can have a dip if you wish. It is a photo-worthy site. Reach Yala in the evening. Check in to your hotel in Yala where you will spend the rest of the day.
Day 7: Yala/Mirissa
Wake up to the singing birds of Yala National Park. After breakfast, get picked up by a safari jeep for a half day tour in the national park. Yala National Park has the highest leopard concentration in the world. Apart from leopards, you'll also see elephants, crocodiles and a vast variety of birds. This is the best national park if you are after semi-arid wildlife. After the safari, drive to Mirissa later that day where you will check in to your hotel.
Day 8: Mirissa
This day is going to be a lot of fun. Step onto a boat where you will be taken on a whale watching tour. This tour will be complimentary for you. Expect to see the largest mammal on earth in all its glory, the blue whale. You might also see bryde whales, sperm whales and many more. Do not worry about being sea sick as pills for that are provided. Enjoy the lovely beach later this day. Hot the street for fresh seafood. Spend the night in your hotel in Mirissa.
Day 9: Galle/Colombo
Take a 1 hour drive in the morning by the Indian ocean to reach the historic city of Galle. Visit the Fort of Galle built by the Portuguese and developed further by the Dutch between 15th and 17th century. This strong structure withstood the boxing day tsunami in 2004. Take a walk in the fort where you will come across remnants of fine pieces of architecture throughout. Leave to Colombo after lunch. Based on availability and timing, you will take the train which glides by the vast Indian Ocean. If not, you will be driven to Colombo via the express way. Enjoy our complementary farewell street food dinner in Colombo where you can expect popular local delicacies like Kottu, Hoppers etc. Stay in Colombo where you will spend the night.
Day 10: Colombo
Wake up early this day for an early morning city tour. Visit most of the iconic landmarks in Colombo including the Independence Square, Galle Face Green, Hindu Kovil in Slave Island, Museum, Arcade independence square etc. Grab your cameras to capture some cover photos. Visit the famous street market in Pettah. We will guide you through the fruits and vegetable market, fabrics and clothing market and many more! We bid you farewell after dropping you off at the Airport.
