Arrive at the Bandaranaike International Airport where you will be welcomed by our tour leader. You will be transferred to your hotel in Negombo. Based on your time of arrival, you can enjoy a walk in the streets of Negombo or chill in the beach. Take a bicycle tour if you wish (you can rent bicycles).
Your personal vehicle will take you to Dambulla in the morning. Reach Dambulla which is at 130 Km from Negombo, by 10 AM Approx. where you will check in to your hotel. Drive to the cave temples which has over 80 documented caves of which, 5 containing statues and paintings which depicts the ancient Sri Lanka. After lunch, head towards the Minneriya tank in an effort to capture the sight of wild elephants arriving at the tank. Spend your night at the hotel in Dambulla.
You'll have to wake up early morning this day. Drive to the ancient site of Sigiriya and Pidurangala. Start your day with a climb to the Pidurangala rock where you will see the breathtaking sight of the rising sun. After descending, drive to Sigiriya, not far away from Pidurangala. If you've still got it, climb to the top of the Sigiriya rock fortress built by King Kashyapa. This UNESCO world heritage site can be known as the pinnacle of ancient infrastructure. From ponds still working to date, to traces of his kingdom, Sigiriya takes you back in time. You can also wander in the gardens at the bottom of the rock if you are too tired to climb. This tour will be fully guided. Spend the rest of your day in the city of Dambulla.
Drive after breakfast to depart to Kandy. Reach Kandy by 10 AM approx. in a 2 hour drive. Check in to your hotel where you can rest for a while. Drive to Udawatte Kele, a sanctuary sitting shy of the Kandy town. Enjoy a short trek in this sanctuary where you'll be able to see a variety of fauna and flora. Rest for a while in your hotel. After lunch, head to Dalada Maligawa, the temple of tooth. Indulge in a rich cultural show where you'll see most of the aspects of Kandyan culture including, Kandyan dancing. Reach your hotel where you will stay for the night.
Depart to Hatton in the morning. Visit the Peradeniya botanical garden on the way. Peradeniya Botanical garden is an exceptionally organised garden with over 4000 species of plants. Orchid houses, bamboo trees, plant houses, palm avenues spread across 145 acres and the suspension bridge which is fun to cross, decorates the place. Continue your journey to Hatton. The stretch from Kandy to Hatton provides beautiful scenes for the passengers. Well tarred roads laid across tea plantations and many photo-worthy locations are a treat to watch. Take as many photos you want. Check in to your hotel later this day where you will spend the rest of the day.
Leave hatton to go to the 'Little England' of Sri Lanka, Nuwara Eilya. This route also provides some stunning views of tea plantations. Visit the 'Damro Labukellie tea center and tea garden' on your way. You will be taken on a guided tea factory tour where you will experience professional tea tasting with a visit to a tea plantation. Check in to your Hotel in Nuwara Eliya. Take a walk along the scenic Gregory Lake where you can enjoy the cold breeze coming over the waters of the lake. There are food stalls installed beside the lake which prepares an array of local food. You can also visit the market where you can find some exotic seasonal fruits grown in Nuwara Eliya. Passion fruits, pears, strawberries, avocado and custard apples are some of the favourites. You will stay in Nuwara Eliya.
This day will be spent entirely in the heart of tea plantations, Nuwara Eliya. Get ready for a drive to Hortain Plains in the morning where you will go on a short trek in search of the World's End cliff. On the way, expect to see a variety of fauna and flora and Sambar deer if you are lucky. Hortain Plains is a UNESCO world heritage site. Visit Ambewela farms (subject to availability) where you will learn about dairy production. You can also purchase fresh dairy products in their outlet.
Take a train to Ella in the morning. As in all of the other transfers, we will accompany you through this as well. The Nanu Oya (N'Eliya) to Ella stretch is one of the best train rides in the world. After reaching Ella, jaunt along the walls of the nine arch bridge. You can either rest or take a walk in this small city until we take you to the next place on our plans, Little Adam's peak. Take some pictures of the sunset if you wish. Stay in Ella this day.
Drive to the 'Misty Mountains' of Sri Lanka. Haputale is home to some of the ancient architectural masterpieces like the famed Adisham Bungalow. This town gives you the chills of movie like misty mountains. Head over to the Lipton seat where the Scottish Tea Baron, Sir Thomas Lipton inspected his plantations from. Later, the leaves from the plantations contributed towards the famous 'Lipton' tea brand. Spend the rest of the day in this beautiful town. You will stay in Haputale.
Leave Haputale to go to Yala National Park. Visit Koslanda en route for a trek to the top of the Diyaluma waterfall, standing 220 from the ground. This is also the second highest waterfall in Sri Lanka. Drive 1 Km to the starting point and climb another 1 Km to get to the top. You will find water pockets on your way to the top where you can take a dip in. Getting to the top will open up some stunning panoramic views. Reach Yala after a 2 hour drive from Koslanda. Enjoy the warmth of the Southern Province where you will check in to your hotel to complete the day.
Wake up to the singing birds of Yala National Park. After breakfast, get picked up by a safari jeep for a half day tour in the national park. Yala National Park has the highest leopard concentration in the world. Apart from leopards, you'll also see elephants, crocodiles and a vast variety of birds. This is the best national park if you are after semi-arid wildlife. After the safari, drive to Mirissa later that day where you will check in to your hotel.
This day is going to be a lot of fun. Step onto a boat where you will be taken on a whale watching tour. This tour will be complimentary for you. Expect to see the largest mammal on earth in all its glory, the Blue Whale. You might also see bryde whales, sperm whales and many more. Do not worry about being sea sick as pills for that are provided. Enjoy the lovely beach later this day. Hit the street for fresh seafood. You can also visit the bay of Mirissa. Spend the night in your hotel.
Take a 1 hour drive by the Indian ocean to reach the historic city of Galle. Visit the Fort of Galle built by the Portuguese and developed further by the Dutch between 15th and 17th century. This strong structure withstood the boxing day tsunami in 2004. Take a walk in the fort where you will come across remnants of fine pieces of architecture throughout. Take a dip in the sea in the fort which is engulfed by corals, hence reducing the strength of the waves. You can also visit the Museum of Galle and shop for handicrafts, gems & jewellery and clothing. Stay in Galle this night.
Enjoy a snorkeling session in the fort sea where you can expect to encounter colourful marine wildlife. Although Galle attracts a lot of tourists, the sea of fort is not very touristy. Hence the marine life stays unharmed. Leave to Colombo after lunch. Based on availability and timing, you will take the train which glides by the vast Indian Ocean. If not, you will be driven to Colombo via the express way. Enjoy our complementary farewell street food dinner in Colombo. Expect popular local delicacies like Kottu, Hoppers etc. Stay in Colombo where you will spend the night.
Wake up early this day for an early morning city tour. Visit most of the iconic landmarks in Colombo including the Independence Square, Galle Face Green, Hindu Kovil in Slave Island, Museum, Arcade independence square etc. Grab your cameras to capture some cover photos. Visit the famous street market in pettah. We will guide you through the fruits and vegetable market, fabrics and clothing market and many more!
